(9 1/8 x 12 1/2 in.), bearing an engraved bust portrait of the recently-deceased President Garfield at left: “In respect to the memory of the deceased President of the United States, this Store Will be Closed the day of the funeral. MONDAY, the 26th inst.” Garfield had died of wounds inflicted by Charles Guiteau on September 19, 1881.
