(Early 19th Century Medicine) A group containing ten (10) billing statements and receipts of Dr. Ezra Gustin* (1788-1818) of Meriden, New Hampshire, for medicinal purchases made by Dr. Gustin from the pharmacies Hutchinson, Chaney & Farnsworth of Newport (8), Green & Wardner of Windsor, Vermont (1), and Samuel Horton Jr. of Boston (1), between 1815 and 1817, almost the full extent of Dr. Gustin’s career, as he died at the age of 30 in 1818.
Purchases include “… Emat Tart, Lapis Catamannus… Juniper… Rod Valarian… Nitri Dulsis… Gum Manna… 1/2 Gal. Mosases… Aloes…“, among many other items.
Paper used for 1815-16 receipts are irregularly cropped, usual folds with light separation at folds, light toning and creasing, edge wear, slight ink feathering overall very good to fine condition. Together, the ten items.
